"My art is for you if you’ve known both love and heartache, and still look for beauty in the world. It’s for humanitarians, poets, gardeners, historians, homebodies, and anyone who feels something sacred when they look at the sky, the ocean, or sunlight through the trees and knows there is a God in it all."

Hi, my name is Tirzah!

I’m the artist and creator behind Painted Prairie, and I’m so glad you found your way here.

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but it truly took root when I moved from Canada to New Zealand at twelve. I was constantly in awe of the beauty of creation around me, and it shaped my love for painting, music, literature, history, and old stories. I lived there for almost seven years before returning to Canada, where I worked in the Arctic and later in social services but no matter where I was, I always found myself pulled back to creating.

Today I live on a small acreage near Vegreville, Alberta, making art year-round (often freezing in a cardigan in my studio). My work includes original oil paintings, prints, painted thrifted pieces, clay jewellery, artisan nails, and storytelling through comics and animation.

Thank you for visiting me. Whether you support my work through a follow, a kind word, or by bringing a piece into your home, it truly means the world to me. Please feel free to reach out anytime, I’d love to connect.

Let’s be pen pals.

Painted Prairie is a world told in letters. Slow, thoughtful, and occasionally folded around a small gift. If you would like stories of land and memory, gentle faith and old music, and the making of art in quiet corners of the world, you are welcome to join me.

A printable art piece waits inside your first letter.

Replies, if you ever feel moved to send one, are always read and responded to with care.
